Yesterday I introduced the letter I, and in an ideal world, we’d spend a week learning a letter. But in my world, I teach school when we have time. Sometimes we only have school two times a week; so we cram a few days of school into one day! But I honestly don’t fret about it, because I’m teaching a four year old, preschool. 😉
So, Letter I, day 2 was today.
We started off the day by having an alphabet hide and seek. I have a few sensory containers that I use for different school activities. This little shoe box tote is filled with Lima beans that have been spray painted. I threw the capital letters into the sensory box and had my little guy dig letters out one at a time. He told me what letter he’d found and then we put them in order on the counter.

Next, it was time for some cutting practice. Cutting has improved so much since we started school in September!! Alleluia!! I get these “worksheets” from http://www.abctwiggles.com. I pay a yearly membership for this site, and I do recommend it. The site has a lot of resources including videos, activities and worksheets.
Sam has to choose the picture that starts with the letter I, and then cut and paste it on the paper. He does really well with this, another thing that has improved since September. Its so fun to watch your child grow and develop over time!! (One of the reasons I LOVE homeschooling preschool!)

Next on our list was classifying. I decided that we should classify our bugs, since we’ve been talking about I is for insects. So, I gave Sam the choice: Classify the bugs by color or by bug. He chose to classify by color.

The last thing we did for the day was read, Bugs Are Insects. This is a non-fiction book that is pretty fun for any kid that loves bugs!!
