Letter I, day 3. Lots of play Today.

We didn’t really do much with the letter I, today. Practiced writing a little, but for the most part we just had “fun ” while learning. After all, that’s what preschool should be, play to learn, right?

We started off our day with some pretend play. Today we played grocery store. Kids LOVE pretend play. I feel like I used to have more time for pretend play when I just had one kiddo. Now that I have three kiddos, I have less time for EVERYTHING! I wouldn’t trade them, though, well not at this moment. 😉😉

Please notice that this little guy has his shirt on backwards. Something is usually on backwards on this boy, but he dresses himself and to me, that’s all that matters!!

I was the clerk, Sam was the customer.

I hated that he had to pay with a “card”. I told him it was not a credit card!! If we had play money, I would have had him use that! Cash is King!!

Next on our list was an “experiment ” this was nothing too scientific, as I honestly didn’t have time. We were putting Skittles in water to see what happened. I felt like this would be a great time to let Sam practice pouring water from a pitcher. These are skills that are important, but I don’t always take the time to practice these things. So, today was the day!

The end result, if you can’t guess was that the color comes off and changes the water color. Nothing too crazy, but a four year old thinks it’s amazing.

We are on our last two months of school, so we have a new number, 9! I sent Sam on a hunt for 9 items. I looked around and saw shoes all over, perfect!!!

When we had this school day, it was clearly a lot warmer.

Whenever we learn a new letter or number, I always have my son use the app, Letter School. I love the Letter School App, because it teaches the correct formation of letters and numbers.

I love the Handwriting without Tears workbook, it doesn’t just dive into writing. There are baby steps and strategies that get you to writing. We are almost to the end of this workbook, and this is my second time using this workbook. Sam is my second son, and this is my second time teaching Four Year old Preschool.

Next it was a time for a craft. We just used a paper plate, and Sam painted it green. I cut the shapes and Sam glued them to the plate, when the tortoise was dry.

The last activity we had for the day was painting with trucks.

I just threw a little paint on the paper, colors picked by the S man, and he drove around the trucks.

When I taught school to my oldest, I really debated about buying this big roll of paper. We’ve used it so many times! If you know that you will teach more than one kiddo, it’s totally worth buying the roll.

Naturally, we needed to have a car wash after all of this painting!! I love our water table, this is a toy that had been used over and over again!! Great investment!!

That’s all for school today!! We’ll be back soon, hopefully!!!
