My seven year old has less than 3 weeks left of school. All of a sudden as I look at my calendar, I’m in a panic! We have three more letters to learn and SOOO many fun things I’d love to complete before we wrap up 4-year old preschool. I have to talk myself out of this panic for a few reasons, 1. This is FOUR year old preschool. 2. I’m homeschooling…we can have school in the summer. 3. We might need some planned activities once summer hits?
I’m a list person. I like to check things off my list and have that feeling of accomplishment. What I’m getting at is, you may be seeing homeschool posts until JULY!Β π
We started off our day by reading a Spring Book. Chickens Aren’t the Only Ones is a non-fiction book. Invest in non-fiction books, kids LOVE them!

Practicing writing the letter R was next. I get these printables fromΒ abctwiggles.com.

Road Builders was our R book, today. Sam was sooo excited to read this book. Any book with construction site vehicles in it, is right up his alley.

Coloring was next. Sam hates to color, our oldest did too. I make him do it anyway, because it builds those fine motor muscles important for writing. Now Jake, our oldest, loves to color. I don’t make a big deal of it. If he wants to color every R picture with orange, who cares? While he is coloring, I ask him to name each picture. He knows the names and that they all start with R. This is such an improvement from last September. Its amazing how much little kids develop in ONE year!

The last time we had school, we did this opposite foot trail. Sam did not guess the opposites correctly when I asked him for the opposite of each step. Today, we tried it again, he got about 80% right. Yeah little buddy!!!

The walking water experiment was next. My husband is just as amazed by this experiment as our four year old. π It is pretty neat. Take three jars and a few pieces of paper towels. Fill two of the jars about half full of water and add a few drops of food coloring (let your kiddo pick the color). Then roll up some paper towels and put in each jar. This experiment takes a few days to complete. We set up the experiment on Friday, and it’s still doing cool things on Sunday.

Racing Rainbows was next. I took a cardboard box apart and flipped it upside down. You could also tape a piece of paper on top if you want to save the artwork. Then I dropped some paint in the order of the rainbow. I made Sam tell me the order, of course my little genius got them in the correct order. π Then he raced a car down each color.
