O is for Otter, U is for Umbrella

Yesterday we finished up the letter O. We also started the letter U. Please keep in mind, this is two school days, in one.

I’m a teacher, and an over achiever, so I categorize our books by season. I rotate the books that fall into specific seasons in and out. The rest of the books just stay on the shelf all year. Major OCD issues in parts of my life, yet my closet is currently a disaster. I’m a real wonder, let me tell you.

This book is a spring time book, so we read it in school today. Here is a warning, the book is VERY specific about mating and fertilization. This went way above my four year old’s head, but don’t say I didn’t warn you!

It felt like a good day to paint. The goal was to paint a spring weather picture. It is very important to demonstrate and explain what you are doing. Be a Bob Ross, your kid will love it!

Our last O activity was writing the letter O. This printable is from abctwiggles.com

Onto the letter U!! I always have Sam start out by using the Letter School App. This app forces kids to correctly form the letters.

Independent practice on our magma board https://amzn.to/2Ia2FSO was next.

These short videos from abctwiggles.com are cute, and educational.

Another printable from abctwiggles.com to practice writing the letter U. I always have Sam use a crayon or marker.

We made our letter book next. U is for umbrella.

It’s spring, and we’ve been discussing the lifecycle of the butterfly, so we made a caterpillar. Use half an egg carton, paint of your child’s choice, and a pipe cleaner.
