Fall Shoes

Fall is right around the corner, and I cannot wait. I love making soup, picking pumpkins, decorating our porch, wearing layers. All of this gives me warm fuzzies. The only transition I hate, is giving up my flip flops. I wear flip flops until it is not socially acceptable in public, and at home, I wear them outside until my feet are too cold! I love slip and go footwear. I prefer it for my children, too. Less laundry when you don’t have to fold socks.

So, in the fall, my footwear changes, and in some people’s opinion, it is probably for the better (my toes usually look terrible!). I have a rather large collection of fall boots. This didn’t happen over night, it is a collection I’ve built through the years. Most of my tall boots (which are real leather) were purchased from the Macy’s Black Friday BOGO 50% off event. Others were purchased in the off season. I try to find good deals on boots, because boots are classic and a true investment to your wardrobe. When it comes to boots, booties and shoes in general, I USUALLY buy expensive real leather shoes. Nothing is worse than having my feet hurt, or knowing my feet will hurt if I choose to wear something. Those cheap shoes eventually become a waste of space in my closet, and then make a trip to the dumpster.

If you are looking to build your shoe wardrobe choose wisely. Look for a shoe that is comfortable, good quality, and classic. Then the next year, do the same thing. This will become less of a strain on your wallet and your feet will thank you.

I threw away a pair of heeled booties this summer. They were from Kohl’s, and did last for six years. I really liked them, they were fairly comfortable, but the problem was they were literally falling apart- to the point of embarrassment. πŸ˜‰ I’ve been on the lookout for a pair since they hit the dumpster. I still haven’t found the exact pair I want, but am searching.

I’ve rounded up some fall shoe styles that are classic enough to last you years. I’m trying my best to find quality shoes that won’t max your credit card. πŸ˜‰ Some shoes I will share have a save and splurge option, I’m hoping the save shoes are still of high quality.

A trend I foresee lasting a few seasons, is booties, especially cut out booties. I’ve already jumped on the train. Cut out booties can be worn with skinnier type jeans and pants, and will even look cute with dresses and skirts.

Save Option. I purchased these booties. They are true to size, but I would not recommend them for someone with wide feet. This particular pair is faux leather. So far, I find them comfortable, and for around $30 I would highly recommend them. This bootie comes in a couple of color options.

If you prefer real leather, I would try this splurge pair of booties. These Free people booties also come in a variety of colors. With free shipping to and from, I would not be afraid to try this booties.

A classic pair of low healed booties is a closet essential for me. I own a pair of black and cognac. I wear both pair quite often. I wear and recommend wearing them with skinny jeans (cuffed) or with skirts or dresses. I wear then with low socks or with tights under dresses, skirts or tunics. Invest in a pair that your feet love.

Save Option

I’m way better at finding splurge options. Sorry! Think of these as a true closet staple to wear over and over. πŸ˜‰

I own this pair, and love them. True to size.

I love this pair. I might need to add this pair to my collection.

These look like my kind of shoes, they’ve got the words “slip on” in the description.

Even though these booties have a heel, I still wouldn’t rule them out as too tall.

These look extremely easy to slip on and off.

My next pair of fall shoe essentials is a pair of heeled booties, which I’m currently on the look out for. I like to wear heeled booties for adult outings. I wear them with skinny jeans, dresses, skirts, tunics, and tights. I’ll probably order a few pair, try them on in my house and then send back what hurts! I refuse to keep shoes that I know hurt, because they will just collect dust in the back of my closet. I lean toward a brown color of heeled booties, because they look good with most colors (denim, black, white, colored jeans).

Splurge option first.

Two save options, next. You’re welcome. πŸ˜‰

I’m going to share some other shoes I think would be great for fall, next.

These would look great with boyfriend jeans, khakis cuffed, denim board shorts, even wider legged jeans and cover them.

I’m not huge into tops or pants with busy prints like leopard, mostly because it’s hard to mix and match those items and make them flattering. But I am extremely into leopard shoes!! Wear them with sweaters, stripes, denim, colored-jeans and more.

Two cute fall options below.

I wear my Chucks a lot, all year. They are comfortable and easy to put on. (That’s enough to sell me right there!) But they also look great with a huge variety of clothing. Grab the socks for them, too!!

I’m on the mule trend, although mules are not very practical in snow. Mules are a great spring, summer, and fall shoe. I’d lean toward a neutral color.

I do own a lot of tall riding boots, and over the knee boots. I’m not going to share any on this post, but may later.

I’m a farm girl, and I’m outdoors often, so a great pair of hiking boots are essential.

I love these two pair! Wear them to work in the yard, to the pumpkin patch or to a local football game. Wear with a great flannel and a pullover sweater and skinny jeans.

I love Uggs. Ive been on the fence about these cute sweater boots! I think they would be so cute with leggings and a tunic or sweaters.

Lastly, I love my rain boots. It is often wet, rainy and muddy where I live in the fall, so rain boots are essential.

Save option, first.

Splurge option. I have the taller version, but I also love these!

Happy early Fall, friends.
