Already Monday again, and we are back in the school routine!
Sam chose his first activity for the day. Today he chose the Moon Balance Game. This is a game we played together, which doesn’t give me prep time. That explains the mess in the background. 😉
Honestly kids can play this game alone, I used to use it in a busy box.

As always, we start our day with the calendar, the weather checking and praying the Lords Prayer.
Our new letter is B. So, today we made B is for bee.

I filled a bag with items that star with B. We talked about each item. Actual items help kids remember things better.

I found this idea on Pinterest. We filled in the blanks with words that start with B. Sam loves this.

The Season book was next. I used card stock for this book. I’m showing the one I made with Jake a few years ago. Sam liked this activity.

This book goes right along with the season book we made. Leaves makes me want to hug this cute little bear.

This preschool activity book is a book to help with prewriting and writing.

Our last activity of the day involved the garden hose. Right away this was a hit. I wrote letters and shapes and then I would say a shapes name or a letter and Sam would wash it off the porch.

Day 2
The busy activity Sammy started his day with was building with Automoblox. This is a great toy to build, explore and design with.

The first activity was beach play. I took our water table and put sand in part, water in the other. I gave the boys shells and boats to play with, also.

We sang this fun little song a few times.

Sorting and counting bugs was next.

Another counting activity. I made this with beads and pipe cleaners. Sam loved moving the beads as he counted them. Simple.

Making band-aid butterflies was next. You could use gauze, we used toilet paper.

This is a cute little book that explains what happens to trees and leaves in the fall.

Today was game day. Sam loves to play games and I know that games are more than just fun. Learning to win and lose is a great skill to learn. Also, this game encourages counting.

B is for beach and to continue our beach theme, we read this silly book.

Day 3
We crammed another part of a day of school in, since we missed a day last week. So, there was no busy activity to start the day.
This craft is B for banana. I do not expect perfection in cutting from my little guy.

I wanted to make chocolate covered bananas. But I decided bananas dipped in chocolate would be just as yummy. But then Sam said he wasn’t hungry. So, if Sam would have been hungry, this is what we would have eaten. 🙂

B is for bugs. Sam made impressions in the play -doh with bugs. This was an activity he loved!!!

To continue on with the b is for beach theme, we played shell memory match. I wrote a few numbers on the back of these shells and we played this game. Sam was very impressed. Made me feel like I invented the wheel or something. 😉

This cross mosaic is so pretty, but it nearly drove me to have a drink at 11am. I’m warning you, painting one finger at a time for a five year old can and will make you batty. But, this is super cute!!

My obsession with fall books continues. This one is very simple, but cute.

Day 4
Sam chose to play with gears for his busy activity, today. These gears are a HUGE hit in this house. My boys even make farm equipment with these gears: pivots and tractors.

We started our day with calendar, weather and the Lords Prayer.
The first activity of our day was making food for the birds. We cut an orange in half, Sam spread peanut butter and sunflower seeds on the orange. Honestly the learning Sam experienced just in spreading peanut butter was probably a days worth of learning. 😉 Then we placed the orange in the tree.

We read A Nest Full of Eggs next. This is a non-fiction book but it is very understandable for young learners.

This next activity was super fun for Sam. I made a marshmallow shooter, next. I used a balloon and a plastic cup.

A duck race was supposed to be next, but Sam turned it into shooting the dunks. Boys. Ha! Even so, this is a fine motor building skill.

B is for basketball, so we shot a few hoops.

To end our day, we played Go Fish. This is a great number recognition game.

Day 5
We didn’t start out with an activity because this was another day of school crammed in.
B is for boat was our first activity.

Toy boat is such an adorable book. One of my favorites. The illustrations are wonderful and keep my little boys very interested.

Unlock the sound is an activity that Sam was very interested in. I put a sticker on a lock, wrote letters on keys and then Sam and I found the correct combination.

Pound the sound. I set out a toy, Sam decided on corresponding letter and then pounded it.

I wanted Sam to bike paint. But he is very new to biking without training wheels, so this was a disaster. We went on a bike ride later that evening. 😉

Day 6
Normally there is no day six, but we made up for a day we missed last week.
Sam chose to play with the bear counters. He sorted them by color, counted them, and then he poured them.

B is for bat. I traced Sam’s hand and cut out the shapes. Sam glued the shapes down.

One of my favorite books is Stellaluna. Stellaluna is a baby bat raised by a bird. This is a great book to compare and contrast.

This is such a simple activity. I gathered a bunch of toys. I wrote the first letter of each toy on paper. Then I helped Sam decide which toy should be placed on each letter.

I found this block instruction sheet online. Sam followed the pictorial instructions and built each tower.

If you are looking for some amazing wooden blocks, these are our favorite. This is an investment toy, it will last for forever.

Feet painting was next. I bought this huge roll of paper a few years ago. I’ve used it many times over the years during my preschool teaching.

We ended our day playing chutes and ladders. This is a great counting game.
