5 Year Old Preschool Week 8

I’m afraid this may be a short week of school again. We are hopefully going to be in the field this week. I might try to teach school in the tractor! We’ll see what happens.

Sam started with a puzzle, again. He has fallen in love with puzzles.

After calendar and prayer, we read Because I’m Your Dad- https://amzn.to/2pYbU0O

D is for Dad.

D is also for dirt. I wanted to make dirt cups, someone finished the Oreos. We used graham crackers instead.

“Pumpkin seed” counting was next. I didn’t have any pumpkin seeds, so we used garbanzo beans. I wrote random numbers on pumpkins and Sam counted the beans.

More D words, we read- If You Give a Dog a Donut- https://amzn.to/2pW1JKf

I had Sam pick out about five magnets. Then we talked about what sound and letter each picture started with.

Tasting the letter D was next, d is for dill pickle.

We used our preschool book next to practice shapes- https://amzn.to/2CPafTS

The last thing Sam did for the day was play construction site in the dirt.

Day 2

I was honestly shocked we had a day two this week, but I’ll take it!!

Sam chose this game called Who Lives Where- https://amzn.to/2NOLhVL to start our day.

After Sam’s choice, we talked about the calendar, discussed the weather and prayed the Lords Prayer.

Today is our last day for D. Our first craft was d is for door. If you can’t see it in my amazing free handed lower case d, there is an attached door. 😉

D is for Dog.

This is supposed to be a tree that lost its leaves. I traced Sam’s hand and forearm. Then I put the cut-out between two pieces of waxed paper. I put some broken crayons in between. Then I helped Sam iron to melt the crayons. I feel like our tree looks like it is on fire…

I love Stellaluna. This is definitely one of my favorite books. After we read the book we talked about the difference between bats and birds. We also talked about our friends and how we have differences, too and how this doesn’t stop us from liking our friends.

We also made a bat hat. I just traced Sam’s hands and glued them to the band around his head.

D is for dinosaur. I free hand drew a dinosaur. Sam helped me cut and paste it to paper. Then I painted his hands, he used our dobbers to paint on the bottom.

To continue with our Stellaluna discussion, we read more about night animals.

More D talk. We read Big Dog…Little Dog- https://amzn.to/2CPV10M

I told Sam he could act like a dog. He was soo excited. He asked first if he could eat cereal out of a bowl, and drink water. He loved this, and so did Brittany.

Our game today was Blokus. This is honestly a super fun game for adults, too!

That was it for the week!

Next week I’m going to try to teach in the tractor….😳
