5 Year Old Preschool Week 11

I told Sam we better get back to preschool or I’m sending him to real school. 😉 He dragged his feet, but once we got rolling with school after a month break, he was having a blast.

Day 1

These are technically baby toys, but we turned this into a fun preschool activity. These cups have numbers and letters on them. This was a good recognition warm up activity.

After our warm up, we always have calendar and prayer.

Our first activity was LEGO Math.

Sam walked on the “balance beam” next. This is a board that has been painted that the kids use as a road. Practicing big motor movements is very important.

We sang our days of the week song. This is a made up song to practice the days of the week.

E is for Elevator, so we read this great Math book.

I found a few dead leaves; Sam Painted a tree and glued on some leaves.

Day 2

This is two days of school crammed into one. I omitted some Halloween crafts, activities and books. We are just a tad bit behind on my schedule.

Sam chose this as his warm up activity.

I love anything Melissa and Doug!

After prayer and calendar, Sam worked with these pop beads. Activities like these strengthen kids’ hands so writing is easier.

We moved onto letter F today! Sam is excited for our next trip to town because he gets to buy a fish. I on the other hand can wait…

I had Sam work on the letter school App to practice writing F. This is a phenomenal app.

F is for feather.

F is for fishing. Sam fished for letters with this magnetic fishing pole. He read every lettered he fished.

F is for Frog; we had some lily pad Math. We used our fish as counters.

F is for Forest, so we read about forest animals.

Rainbow Fish was next. I LOVE the message in this book. The message is about sharing.

To build anticipation for our fish, we read A fish out of Water- https://amzn.to/2QsThkg

We discussed the lifecycle of a frog next. I read this book and Sam acted out the lifecycle with these toys.

Dump truck Math. Sam counted all the blocks in the back of the truck.

Sam locates shapes in this preschool book.

To end our day, we read this firefighter book.

Day 3

We snuck in a quick day of school after combining was not successful this afternoon.

Sam chose this feel and find game to start the day. Although he really didn’t play the game correctly, he still had fun.

F is for fire. Even though it might have been fun for Sam to play with real fire…we stuck with making an f appear to be on fire.

Sam and I worked on tying his shoes. Not successful…but we practiced.

We also sang our days of the week song. Sam likes to start with Tuesday… we are working on this. 😁

Sam worked on his shapes in his preschool book next.

This is a book we picked up from the library when they were giving books away, hence the X.

We ate the letter F next- Fruit

And French toast..sticks.

Always Sam’s favorite part of the day- playing a game. Today we played Trouble.

We waited until it was dark to play with flash lights outside.

The last thing for the day was site word parking garage. I use painters tape on the cars. Then Sam simply matches them up. I always read the words he picks. He doesn’t know how to read, but he is starting to recognize these words!

Day 4

These school days were planned for October. In my plans I had Halloween crafts, books and games. It is December 1, so naturally we are skipping a lot of those activities. 😉

We had school tonight, on a Saturday night. Jake was obviously home, so he joined in our school fun.

Sam chose these number dominos as his warm up. Jake and him played a fun game of dominos.

F is for Fire Truck. We made this truck as a card for our local firemen. It just so happened that we started our Advent calendar today, and we made cookies for our local firemen tonight, too.

We talked about fire safety, Sam basically had no clue what we should do to avoid a fire. Jake, our first born was loaded with ideas! 😉

Jake read Flashing Fire Engines to Sam. This was awesome! I need Jake here every day.

F is for force. We needed to make a ramp in order to demonstrate the force of gravity. Jake made this very creative ramp, which all the boys loved!

More shape recognition practice in our preschool book.

Our final activity was act like a frog and jump on lily pads.

That is it for the week, here!!
